How to visualize gene count data in a Box Plot
Prior to visualizing your data in a Box Plot you must set up your library and upload your data.
Step 1: Go to your workspace and create a project. Within the Project you will create an analysis and select "Visualization". Select gene counts and "Box" next to the file you would like to work with.
Step 2: The file likely contains thousands of genes, filter your data to display the genes you would like to visualize. Go to the "Data" tab and use the drop down next to the column containing your gene IDs to filter your data.
Clear all of the selected genes
Type in the gene you would like to visualize and use the check box to select it. Do this for all of the genes you would like to visualize.
Step 3: Go to the "Plot" tab to visualize your data. Use the horizontal and vertical zoom sliders to zoom in and out of the plot. Use the right hand panel to customize the plot. Under Series you can customize the Box Fill Colour, Box plot Outline Colour and outlier Plot Colour. Hovering over any of the data points will display the Q1, Q2, and Q3 values.
Under Axis you can customize the X and Y axis appearance.
Step 4: Explore the insights from EnrichR and Reactome associated with the subset of genes you have selected. Explore the gene sets and pathways that are enriched in this subset of genes by selecting the "Insights" tab.
Once you are satisfied with your plot, use the cloud icon located in the top right hand corner of the plot to export it to your desktop.
