# get\_entity\_connections — Get entity connections

Get entity connections

Get entity connections

## What it does

List a specific node's graph neighbours along ONE relationship type — the edges of that one relationship (e.g. ERBB4's "interacts with" edges), counts-first and paginated.

**When to use:** the user asks "what is X connected to via ?" — a known entity's edges of one type; you are exploring a known entity's neighbours in the graph (traversal) and want the actual nodes; you have a uuid (from search\_entities / get\_entity) AND a relationship label (from describe\_entity\_type).

**When NOT to use:** you only need HOW MANY edges of each type exist (get\_entity already returns per-relationship counts); you only have a name, not a uuid — resolve it with search\_entities FIRST; you want the shortest path / how two specific nodes are linked (use find\_paths); you need a custom multi-hop or multi-relationship pattern (use run\_graph\_query); you don't know the relationship label — use describe\_entity\_type to list a class's relationship types.

**Parameters:**

* `uuid` — The source node's stable uuid (from a search\_entities or get\_entity hit). The elementId is resolved server-side via the universal base label — no elementId is ever needed or exposed.
* `relationshipLabel` — Exactly ONE relationship type to traverse (e.g. "interacts with"), from the outboundRelationships describe\_entity\_type lists for the node's class. The op returns ONE relationship type per call.
* `dbLabel` — Optional: restrict neighbours to this graph label (e.g. "Gene").
* `directionality` — Optional: restrict to a direction — "outbound" (edges from the node) or "inbound" (edges into it). Omit to get both directions (each edge still reports its own direction).
* `limit` — Optional: max edges to return this page (default 25, cap 100).
* `offset` — Optional: number of edges to skip, for paging (0-based).

**Returns:** An object { relationshipLabel, total, hasMore, returnedCount, offset, edges }. `total` is the full count of edges of this relationship type (answer counts-first); `hasMore` is true if more pages remain; `returnedCount` is this page's size (≤ limit). Each edge is { neighbour, direction, properties } where neighbour is the connected node { uuid, displayName, dbLabels } (chain its uuid back into this tool or get\_entity), direction is "outbound" (node → neighbour) or "inbound", and properties are the edge's stored attributes (e.g. score, source-DB) or null. A valid node with no edges of this type returns total 0 / empty edges; an unknown uuid or relationship label returns a 404 Not Found error (isError).

## Response

```ts
_(identity shaper — response = the handler result; see the tool source.)_
```

## Example

```json
{
  "uuid": "EFO:0000676",
