# Connect Claude (sign in)

Add the BioBox connector to Claude on the web, in Claude Code, or in Claude Desktop, and sign in with your BioBox account.

You connect Claude to BioBox once, using a single **connector URL**. Signing in uses your existing BioBox account — there is **no token to copy or paste**. A browser window opens, you log in the same way you log into the BioBox app, and the connection is remembered for next time.

**Connector URL** — replace `<your-org-id>` with your BioBox organization id:

```
https://biobox.app/api/mcp?orgId=<your-org-id>
```

{% hint style="warning" %}
**The `orgId` is required.** Claude connects over the web, where it can't send BioBox's organization header, so it tells BioBox which graph to query through the `?orgId=<your-org-id>` part of the URL. Without it the connector can't scope to your data. Your BioBox administrator can give you the org id; if you belong to more than one organization, use the id for the one you want to query.
{% endhint %}

Pick your client below — each one uses this same URL (with your `orgId` filled in).

## Claude on the web (claude.ai)

1. Open [claude.ai](https://claude.ai) and go to **Settings → Connectors**.
2. Click **Add custom connector**.
3. Give it a name (e.g. `BioBox`) and paste the **connector URL** above, with your `orgId` filled in.
4. Save, then click **Connect**. A BioBox sign-in window opens — log in with your BioBox account and approve access.
5. In a chat, open the tools/connectors menu and make sure **BioBox** is enabled.

## Claude Code

From a terminal, add the connector (an HTTP MCP server):

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http biobox "https://biobox.app/api/mcp?orgId=<your-org-id>"
```

Then start (or reload) Claude Code and authenticate:

```
/mcp        # select "biobox" → Authenticate — a browser opens for BioBox sign-in
```

After you sign in, `/mcp` shows **biobox** as connected and lists its tools. To remove it later: `claude mcp remove biobox`.

## Claude Desktop

1. Open **Claude Desktop → Settings → Connectors**.
2. Click **Add custom connector**.
3. Enter a name (e.g. `BioBox`) and paste the **connector URL** above, with your `orgId` filled in. Leave **OAuth Client ID** blank.
4. Click **Connect**. A BioBox sign-in window opens — log in and approve access.
5. BioBox now appears in the connectors list; enable it in a conversation to use its tools.

## What to expect when you sign in

* **A BioBox login page**, not a request for a token. You authenticate with your normal BioBox credentials; Claude never sees your password.
* **An approval screen** the first time, asking you to allow Claude to access BioBox on your behalf. This grants read-only, organization-scoped access (see [what it can and can't do](/guide/how-to/ask-biobox-with-claude.md#what-it-can-and-cant-do)).
* **Stay signed in.** The connection is remembered, so you won't have to log in every session.

## Troubleshooting

* **Sign-in didn't finish / connection failed on the first try.** Newly registered connectors occasionally need a second attempt — click **Connect** (or run `/mcp` → Authenticate) once more.
* **"Service not found" or an error before the login screen.** Double-check the connector URL matches the template `https://biobox.app/api/mcp?orgId=<your-org-id>` — no typos, no trailing characters, and `<your-org-id>` replaced with your real org id.
* **Answers look empty, or say you lack access, or hit the wrong graph.** First confirm the `orgId` in your connector URL is present and correct — a missing or wrong `orgId` is the most common cause. Otherwise, remember you only see what your BioBox account can see; ask your BioBox admin about your org id or permissions.

Once connected, head to the [Quickstart](/guide/how-to/ask-biobox-with-claude/quickstart.md) to ask your first question.
